Notes

  • Lafourche Parish does NOT ALLOW VARIANCES ON FLOODPLAIN MATTERS.
  • Lafourche Parish does NOT require a formal survey in order to obtain a building permit. They do, however, require a plot plan with all of the information included in a survey. For this reason, we must obtain an accurate survey for each customer.
  • Lafourche Parish uses the Effective FIRM for flood ZONE. The Preliminary FIRM is used to determine BFE. ABFE is in effect parish-wide.
  • Properties that have been removed from the Effective FIRM flood zones via a LOMA still need a preliminary elevation certificate, a form board certificate, and a final elevation certificate because of ABFE heights.
