Permits and License

All building permits are issued through the Ascension Parish Building Permit Department except for House and/or Trailer Moving Permits.  You can contact Ascension Parish at 225-450-1002 for questions regarding building permits. 


Permit requirements:

  1. 911 Address
  2. Recorded Deed
  3. Survey of Property
  4. Subdivision Covenants/ Restrictions
  5. Onsite Wastewater Permit (LDH at SE Ascension Complex- Gonzales)
  6. Temporary Power Account Number
  7. Preliminary Elevation Certificate (Everyone)
  8. Form Board Certificate (for properties in a flood zone)
  9. Final Elevation Certificate (Everyone)
  10. Floodplain Development Permit (Flood Zone)
  11. Culvert Permit




Flood Zone: Residential construction. New construction or substantial improvement of any residential structure shall have the lowest floor, including basement, elevated to at least the base flood elevation. A registered professional engineer, architect, or land surveyor shall submit a certification to the floodplain administrator that the standard of this subsection is satisfied.

Culverts: Any new culvert installed in the town shall be installed in accordance with the recommendations of the town as to grade, culvert size, and catchbasin. A seal shall be used under the band adjoining two corrugated pipes or connecting a corrugated pipe to an existing culvert. No culvert shall be installed which is less than 15 inches in diameter. Catchbasins must be installed every 40 feet.
