Building Permit Fees

Each builder or contractor shall obtain from the city clerk or building inspector permits for any new building or structure or for any additions to any existing building or structure or portion thereof to be erected or repaired before beginning work and shall pay for such permit at the time of making application and pay for each building or structure the following fees:

Building permit—$2.50 for every $1,000.00 in construction value

Electrical permit—Temporary pole—$25.00

All others—$50.00

Plumbing permit—$50.00

Mechanical permit—$50.00

A fee of one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) shall be collected by the city clerk for issuing each permit for water well drilling, boring, constructing or enlarging.


Inspection and other fees:

The following fees are hereby prescribed and shall be payable in advance by the owner, operator or tenant desiring to have electrical work done or installations made, which fees shall be paid into the city treasury:

(1) Two dollars and fifty cents ($2.50) for the first nine (9) outlets and meter loop and ten cents ($0.10) for each additional outlet above nine (9) for the first inspection; and a like amount for the final inspection. This subsection is applicable to new or existing buildings except in cases where the fees prescribed below apply.

(2) For making an inspection where extensions to existing wiring and facilities are made, one dollar and fifty cents ($1.50) for the first five (5) outlets and ten cents ($0.10) for each additional outlet.

(3) For inspection of range, water heater, clothes washer, clothes dryer, dishwasher, disposal, or other such appliance, and 220-volt air conditioner installations, two dollars and fifty cents ($2.50) for each, or four dollars ($4.00) altogether when inspected at the same time.

(4)In addition to the inspections otherwise authorized or required, the inspector may, if such inspector deems it advisable, inspect the entrance, for which inspection a fee of two dollars ($2.00) shall be charged.

Each customer shall deposit fifty dollars ($50.00) for residential, three hundred dollars ($300.00) for commercial and nine hundred dollars ($900.00) for industrial with the city before a gas service is installed to the customer's premises. Such deposit will be refunded the customer when the service is discontinued, less any amounts owed by the customer to the city for gas.

Net monthly rate residential (GS1):

Monthly availability fee per meter .....$8.02

Actual usage fee = The sum of the weighted average cost of gas (WACOG) to City of Brewton per hundred cubic feet + $0.65 per Ccf + Rate Stabilization Factor + Charges Levied by Other Governmental Authority.

Sec. 13-82. - Removal of building debris.

Building debris such as scrap lumber, plaster, roofing, concrete, brickbats or similar materials resulting from the construction, repair or demolishing of any building or structure on private property, and dirt and rocks, will not be removed by the department, but the owner must cause this waste to be privately removed.
