Setbacks for all areas (unless HOA Covenants state differently) are as follows: Front= 20', Sides= 8', Rear= 10'

Permit Requirements

  1. 911 Address- Issued by Acadia Parish Police Jury 911 Business Office- 337-788-8770
  2. Recorded Deed (Clerk of Court documents are attached to the Assessor's GIS and can be purchased online)
  3. Survey of Property (if available)
  4. Plot plan by CT Homes (properties with partial flood zone need to have the flood zone delineated on the plot plan)
  5. Preliminary Elevation Certificate (flood zone only)
  6. Form board certificate & final elevation certificate (flood zone only)
  7. Onsite Wastewater Permit from La. Dept. of Health- 337-788-4999- Can only be obtained AFTER building permit has been issued!
  8. Completed Permit Application (fillable online)
  9. Power companies- Slemco & Cleco
  10. Public Water- LAWCO, Egan Water Company


Floodplain Info:

Parish only has 1' freeboard requirement (state minimum), no fill regulations! Acadia Parish is not a member of the CRS.

Effective FIRM only, panels are from circa 2010. Layer available in Assessor's GIS.

Drafting Notes:

BCIS Louisiana- plan reviewer. Typical sheet #

Building Code- Louisiana, 2021 IRC w/ amendments, no additional local requirements.
